Savoir. Stories // BRAND OF THE WEEK

As the owner of LA’s ultra-hip boutique Shop Super Street, Lucy Akin has become well known for stocking cutting-edge brands.

But for Akin’s first foray into designing, she sought to carve out her own, rather unexpected niche: vacation wear. “I never really got to get into resort clothing because it didn’t line up with [Shop Super Street’s] aesthetic,” admits Akin. “But I travel a lot and started thinking, ‘What do I want to be wearing by the pool that’s not a T-shirt and shorts?"

“It’s for the girl on eternal vacation,” explains Akin, who spent her college years studying abroad in Paris, Cannes, London, and finally Rome (where she picked up her Italian nickname, Lucia). Weekend trips to The Amalfi Coast made an especially strong impression on Akin who imagines her clothes being worn “at a beautiful seaside hotel while tanning by the water, taking long afternoon strolls, and having lengthy dinners with friends.” But make no mistake: While her line may be inspired by la dolce vita—the brand’s logo was actually based on a vintage Italian movie poster—each piece is also infused with Akin’s cool-girl L.A. sensibility. That’s a combination that will be hard to resist.

For Savoir, Ciao Lucia is a great addition to the brand mix. A lovely contemporary brand that isn't readily available in The UK and stands for everything we love; style, fashion, fantasy and travel.

HURRY! I am taking one of everything.
